Deciding to apply for the visa lottery can be overwhelming with all the hype about the number of applicants that are denied or disqualified one would assume that there would be many immigrants backing out or simply not applying. The Visa Lottery or also known as the “Green Card lottery” is a lottery that is conducted every year by the United States Government to give over 50,000 applicants the chance to become U.S. Citizens.
There have been a few repetitive reasons in the past as to why applicants are getting disqualified or denied on their application. The applications have switched from paper to online only in an effort to avoid these reasons. Many applicants are not filling out the applications properly and giving needed information on their application getting them disqualified before they have the chance to be in the lottery. Others are being denied or disqualified because their photos are not meeting all the requirements listed on the application. It is very important that you read the whole application and give all information needed on the application getting professional help is a good idea and will also help you on the photo requirements as well; ensuring that your photo is taken by someone who is qualified and is familiar with the visa photo submissions before sending it in. There are a few eligibility requirements to apply for the Visa Lottery such as: • Being native to a qualifying Country • Having a high school education or equivalency Though it doesn’t seem like much you must make sure you can pass the education tests and also prove you are a native to the country in which you claim. There is no application fees due at the time of submitting your application however if you are chosen in the visa lottery you will be required to pay when claiming the win. The application will then be reviewed and you can also submit applications for your immediate family to get a permanent residency visa with you. Immediate family consists of: your spouse and any children under the age of 21 that are not currently married. Getting a Permanent residency visa will give you the opportunity to work, live and travel in and out of the United States and is applied for by millions of immigrants every year. Currently the wait for a permanent residency visa is 5 years due to the amount of applications but the visa lottery allows you to have the chance to get the status much sooner and come to the United States within a year and is certainly worth the work!
